The Qatar Tourism Authority (QTA) will launch a tour in October to promote Qatar in four Asian countries. This was announced by QTA chairman Ahmed al-Nuaimi at a press conference in Doha yesterday. In February, the QTA launched a two-week promotional tour in Europe (European Road Show 2010) which included Madrid, London, Paris, Milan and Munich. Al-Nuaimi said that the Asian tour will include South Korea, Malaysia, Hong Kong and Singapore. The tour aims at promoting tourism in Qatar in the fields of business, conferences, health, education, sports and exhibitions as well as entertainment. He also noted that several hotels, tourist offices and government agencies in Qatar will participate in the tour in order to increase the stay of visiting businessmen by an extra 48 hours in the country enabling them to learn more about the country’s features. Al-Nuaimi pointed out that the tour comes as part of the QTA’s new policy to organise promotional campaigns abroad to support the national economy and create job opportunities for the tourism sector. He said that authority would launch a third promotional tour in the Middle East, noting that it would take two years or more to reap the benefits of such tours, especially as they are not geared towards the ordinary tourists, but they focus on businessmen, conferences sector, exhibitions, sports and other vital sectors. http://gulf-times.com/site/topics/article.asp?cu_no=2&item_no=372705&version=1&template_id=36&parent_id=16
