President of Public Works Authority 'Ashghal' Saad bin Ahmed Al Muhannadi said that Ashghal, over the past years, has accomplished the highways network in excess of 750 km, including 120 km, which bring a qualitative leap and enhanced traffic all over the country.
Al Muhannadi said in his speech during the first day of the World Congress of Engineering and Technology (WCET), that the highways, completed by Ashghal, represent about 95 percent of the road network connecting the stadiums hosting the 2022 World Cup, which actually contributed to the arrival of the fans to a number of stadiums that hosted the FIFA Club World Cup and Gulf Cup.
in 2019, Ashghal has accomplished 400 km of local road works and infrastructures serving many residential areas, it has also signed about 7 new contracts worth some 3 billion riyals to serve 3090 housing plots, based on the architectural plan approved by the Ministry of Municipality and Environment, Ashghal's president said.
He also stressed that these achievements come within the framework of the state's interest in the infrastructure, construction and reconstruction sector in line with the aspirations of its national vision 2030 and to serve its hosting of the World Cup 2022, pointing out that Ashghal is currently working on implementing a wide range of infrastructure programs throughout the country according to its vision Institutionalization: Excellence in delivering and managing efficient sustainable infrastructure.
Al Muhannadi noted the cooperation between all governmental and relevant institutions in the country to provide efficient and sustainable infrastructure through planning, design integrated infrastructure programs that support the accelerated development witnessed by the state. He said that the efforts of all concerned authorities in the country to achieve their desired goals are cooperated with local and international partners.
On the World Congress of Engineering and Technology (WCET), which is organized by QU in cooperation with a number of authorities in the country, he said that this event represents a basic reference for everything related to the field of construction and infrastructure, as it constitutes an important channel and platform to review the opportunities and challenges faced by these sectors.
