The Meteorology Department has forecast yet another wave of cold spell from Saturday evening.

Scatted rains are also expected in different parts of the country on Saturday heralding the cold wave.

However, the temperature is not likely to dip below the average levels experienced during the previous cold waves this season.

The new cold spell has been attributed to a “low surface pressure moving from Northern Arabian Peninsula towards southeast” likely from Friday.

“Low surface pressure will be accompanied with upper-level trough passing over Qatar from Friday night till Sunday morning.

“This will enhance the chance for scattered rains and thunderstorms at places,” said a statement issued by the Department yesterday. A cold wave will be spreading from Baltic sea to the Gulf causing a dip in temperature from Sunday when the winds would change direction from southwesterly to northwesterly, “with moderate to strong speed reaching up to 25 knots”.

The maximum temperature expected on Friday will be between 16-19 Degree C, and the minimum 11-15 degrees, said the department.

Mercury would dip further from Saturday evening with the maximum expected between 14-19 degrees, and the minimum of 11-15 degrees, from Sunday till Tuesday.

Abu Samra might experience the lowest temperature today — 11 to 19 degrees while temperature in Doha is expected to be between 15 and 21 degrees.
