Amir H H Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani will pay today an official visit to the Republic of Croatia, followed by a visit to the Italian Republic, at the invitation of Croatian President Kolinda Grabar-Kitarovic and Italian President Sergio Mattarella.
H H the Amir will discuss with the leaders and senior officials of the two countries ways to enhance and develop bilateral relations in various fields, in addition to a number of topics of mutual interest. A number of agreements will be signed in several fields during the visit, QNA reported.
H H the Amir will be accompanied by an official delegation.
Since the announcement of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the State of Qatar and the Republic of Croatia in 1992, several agreements in the economic sphere were signed. The first was about promotion and protection of investments which entered into force from November 12, 2001, a Memorandum of Understanding in the field of tourism cooperation dated February 7, 2010 was also signed, in addition to the signing of the Economic Cooperation Agreement dated March 22, 2009 during the visit of Father Amir H H Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani to Croatia and during the same visit a Memorandum of Understanding between the Qatar development Bank and Croatian Bank of Reconstruction was signed.
The Qatari-Italian relations have been culminated by the reciprocal opening of accredited embassies in the capitals of both countries in 1992. Since then, these relations have been experiencing fast and strong development in all fields, especially in the economic and commercial sphere, as the State of Qatar and the Italian Republic are both working to strengthen bilateral relations between the two countries at all levels in a way that serves the common goals and interests of the two friendly countries.
Amir H H Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, paid a visit to Italy in January 2016 during which a number of important agreements between the two countries were signed, which resulted in the promotion and development of those relations.
The volume of trade exchange between the two countries has been witnessing a remarkable development in recent years.
Both countries have a number of agreements, among the an agreement on avoidance of double taxation; an agreement on cultural cooperation and cooperation in tourism and family affairs. Several agreements and memoranda of understanding in diplomatic, political, sport and economic field and an agreement on the establishment of the Qatari-Italian Joint Council of Businessmen are also in place.
The Italian companies, which grow constantly in number, focus on investing in the State of Qatar where many major companies work in various fields, including trade, construction and technology.
