Alnoor Holdings hosts screening of Prometheus

Film lovers and members of the local film industry got the opportunity to view one of the most eagerly anticipated films of the year yesterday, as Alnoor Holdings hosted an exclusive screening of Prometheus at City Center. The movie is a science fiction prequel to Aliens, shot in 3D and made with a budget of more than $120mn. Directed by Oscar-winner Ridley Scott, the cast of the film includes Michael Fassbender, Guy Pearce, Idris Elba and Charlize Theron. “The Doha audience is the first to see the movie anywhere in the world outside of London, where the global premiere was held on Friday night,” explained a spokesperson. Chairman of Alnoor Holdings, Ahmed al-Hashemi said that the screening was an indication of the developing film industry in Qatar and its continued growth within in the global industry. “Since our establishment in 2009 we have been working hard on a number of exciting projects and the strength of our relationships with key Hollywood studies, including Prometheus’s Fox, has made this screening possible,” he explained, adding “we will continue to break new ground and create new opportunities.” The screening is supported by community forum iloveqatar.net, which ran a competition for its users to win tickets to attend the screening. Founder, Khalifa al-Haroon, founder of iloveqatar.net, remarked that the draw had generated considerable buzz on the online forum as citizens and residents alike tried to win the opportunity to be among the first to see the movie anywhere in the world. “Many community members have been eagerly awaiting the release of Prometheus and I am delighted that iloveqatar.net is able to partner with Alnoor Holdings to deliver this screening.
