Aswaq for food facilities management (one of the Hassad companies) announced the launch of the new Al Wakra Central Market (Mawashi Central Market), which includes the main automatic abattoir, which is the latest of its kind in the Middle East.

Al-Wakra market is designed with a Qatari character and according to the latest global systems to serve all categories of the product, the trader and the consumer. The market extends for nearly 230 thousand meters, 30 minutes away from the heart of Doha.

An agreement has been signed between Hassad and Widam Food Company to manage the new automatic abattoir, which operates with a production capacity of 9000 heads per day of sheep, using modern technologies to maintain product quality and process efficiency, in addition to having another line of cows and camels.

Aswaq General Manager Mohamed Ghanem al Kubaisi said in a statement that the market is divided into several sections that serve the activity of livestock trade, as the market serves consumers and the dealer, as it includes all the capabilities and services that facilitate the management and operation of this type of markets.

He pointed out that the barns section includes more than 600 barns divided between display and storage, all covered, in line with international specifications and sizes.

He added that the Al Wakra market includes 102 stores supporting the main market activity, noting that the market includes storage areas for feed, which extend over more than 5,200 square meters.

He noted that the retail market includes 76 stores selling vegetables and fruits, the popular market and shops selling dried fruit, honey, and dates, and it includes service stores.
