An investigative reporter of Arabic daily Al Sharq has received death threats for carrying an expose on a local transport company which is allegedly involved in a multi-million riyal lorry scam. The reporter, Adil Mallah, was sent CDs of audio messages threatening him with dire consequences for carrying a series of the scam story about a company which has allegedly taken several citizens and expatriates for a ride, allegedly fleecing them of up to QR80m. The owner of the firm is said to have fled the country.
