Souq Waqif Boutique Hotels – the exclusive hotel collection managed by the Al Rayyan Hospitality group – has opened its newest property, the five-star Al Najada Boutique Hotel. Al Najada is the second of six hotels to open in Doha in 2012 under the brand of Souq Waqif Boutique Hotels, a collection of luxury properties gathered under the umbrella of Al Rayyan Hospitality. The official opening took place on March 15 under the auspices of Abdulla bin Ali al -Attiyah, the executive manager of Al Rayyan Project Management’s Private Engineering Office (PEO), and Nasser Al Mannai, manager of the PEO. The Al Rayyan officials were accompanied at the opening by a host of VIPs and local dignitaries. Souq Waqif Boutique Hotels, by the end of this year, will number six unique properties; each of them quite unlike anything that the Qatar hospitality scene has seen before. “Al Najada is the second of these landmark hotels, an integral part of a collection that represents a new hotel concept in this country: an exclusive address, a place of privacy yet one in which levels of service eclipse any of the city’s larger hotels,” a spokesman said. Al-Attiyah commented: “Al Rayyan Hospitality is extremely proud to bring Al Najada Boutique Hotel onto the market. The pride comes from our knowing that we are bringing something new to Qatar, a completely new concept which has never been seen here before. “This collection of properties, which will be six strong by the end of this year, offers a superb location in Souq Waqif – a destination where all of the best of Doha is on your doorstep. It’s all here: shopping, culture, sightseeing, activities. “A great location is only part of the mix, though, and Al Najada augments its unique position in Souq Waqif with bespoke decoration, fine dining, state-of-the-art facilities and exemplary levels of personal service from a dedicated and knowledgeable staff.” Al Najada, paradoxically, makes its new home in a building erected in 1930, occupying a space which was once three Qatari homes, now fused into one. Ninety years later, this legacy exists as you enter a traditional Arab home – high ceilings, open courtyards, rich woods – but the interior bristles with 21st century technology and a modern design orientation. The hotel comprises 22 rooms and three suites, each exquisitely-appointed and each with a unique size and shape, the legacy of the historic building that houses Al Najada. The rooms are categorised either ‘Coral’ or ‘Pearl’ dependent on the facilities, and the same system also applies to the three suites. Three dining experiences are available at Al Najada. ‘The Dining Room’ is the signature restaurant of the hotel offering the best destination dining experience in Doha. Choices range from an innovative degustation menu of seven courses, to a delicate a la carte menu of Fusion fine dining. ‘The Courtyard’, at ground level, is an informal, hip and funky café serving a relaxed breakfast and light meals alfresco and offering a fresh alternative all day dining menu from a unique and innovative a la carte selection of Fusion cuisine. Additionally, ‘The Balcony’ café atop the hotel is the perfect place to enjoy an unhurried shisha or mocktail while you overlook the bustle of the Souq below. Souq Waqif Boutique Hotels is an exclusive collection of 6 boutique hotels ranging between 14 and 37 rooms, owned and managed by Al Rayyan Hospitality. The properties embrace and complement the traditions of Souq Waqif and the history of Qatar. The hotels are discreetly positioned throughout the Souq Waqif area of downtown Doha. Al Mirqab, Arumaila, Al Najada, Al Jasra, Al Bida, and Musheireb are five star boutique properties with an individuality of contemporary design, style, and atmosphere, and through their own ‘signature’ offer a unique concept of Qatar hospitality.
