In connection with Science Week at AMAB, a series of activities was launched both on and off campus. One of the highlights was a competition on Wednesday, 7^th March where Year 5 students got their inventive and analytical minds pulsating as they created models using LEGO blocks and their tablets.

The competition, organised by Primary Teachers Ms Mulki and Mr Mohammed Yusuf, was conducted at the school auditorium. Gateway Educational Consultancy (GEC) ran the excitement-charged contest where students worked in teams to outdo each other.

Mr Shuja Uddin, School Principal, said, “I am very proud of the teachers for their dedication and hard work. The students are in very good hands, and I am sure they are learning and having fun at the same time.”

“I am happy that our teachers give nothing less than their best for our boys, and the facilities in Al Maha enhance student learning in keeping with the advanced age of technology,” the Principal added.

Working in small groups, the boys were brought to task by designing and building LEGO blocks into models, and testing them using their tablets. Real life skills such as collaboration, creativity, critical thinking and problem-solving skills were crucial to be able to complete the tasks.

The other activities held in AMAB were field trips to the Qatar Scientific Club by each year group where they immersed themselves in various interactive activities. The event was organised by STEM xplorers®.

MadScience Qatar also held two shows on campus which involved their participation. Students were engaged in the session with their attention riveted on clouds that engulfed them, bubbles pouring on their heads, balls floating, and more.

Thursday, Year 2 boys wore green and held fruit parties in class. Sharing watermelon, bananas, oranges, grapes, and other fruits with each other. Each party was fun, fruity-fresh fragrant, and colourful!

During the entire week, students from the whole school turned in their science projects such as forests, menageries, and live volcano, among others.

Al Maha Academy for Boys provides education of international calibre with Islamic identity. With a student population of 1,800 students, Al Maha Boys is composed of three schools: Early Years Foundation Stage, Primary School, and Secondary School. It is also an examinations centre for standardised tests such as EdExcel and Cambridge International Examinations.

GEC is in collaboration with AMAB to enhance its science curriculum. GEC teachers schedule lessons on campus, and they teach STEM- LEGO® WeDo 2.0 skills (science, technology, engineering and mathematics) that align with the British National Curriculum standards. Employing a project-based learning approach, lessons proceed in three phases of explore, create, and share (the final phase is the presentation of their finished product).
