The Public Works Authority (Ashghal) opened Al Khisa Interchange (N10) on North Road to traffic yesterday. The Interchange located 10km away from Immigration Roundabout, connects North Road and Al Khisa on East and Um Salal and Kharitiat on West. This interchange provides smooth and safe non-stop traffic flow along North Road to Umm Salal and Al Khisa and vice versa. As a development of the new interchange, the U-Turn on the North road near Al Khisa Interchange has been dismantled, increasing the level of traffic safety and supporting a more smooth traffic flow. All works have been completed on the western part of North road. The eastern part (presently used) will be closed for renewal and traffic between Doha and Shamal shall be diverted to the western part with two-lanes for each direction separated with cement barriers. Al Khisa Interchange comes within the second phase of the North Road project that covers a 33km stretch starting from North Bridge to Al Khor Interchange, covering Semeisma road. The project includes construction of a four-lane dual carriageway with service roads on both sides, nine multi-level interchanges, two weighbridge stations, advanced infrastructure lines and new landscaping, in addition to development of Semeisma Interchange on the North coastal line. The third phase of North Road (from Al Khor Interchange to Al Ruwais), consists of construction of four-lane dual carriageway with service roads on both sides, 11 multi-level interchanges and five camel crossing underpasses throughout the 61km stretch. The project also includes protection wall, two weighbridges, advanced infrastructure and new landscaping works. http://thepeninsulaqatar.com/qatar/124239-al-khisa-interchange-opens-for-traffic.html
