QATAR Airways has unveiled details of its advertising campaign promoting the airline’s March 30 route launch to Houston, the national carrier’s first new destination of 2009. The airline is adopting the theme ‘Linking the world’s energy capitals’ in newspapers, magazines, TV, radio and online across the GCC, South Asia and US (Houston) among other places. Qatar Airways has also created a dedicated microsite www.qatarairways.com/houston at which visitors can easily navigate through information on Houston and the Gulf region with details of the new route, a video guide about the onboard experience, as well as a comprehensive directory of useful links and resources. March 30 is the official launch date of the national carrier’s third US route with daily scheduled services to Houston set to be one of the world’s longest non-stop flights with a journey time of just under 17 hours. The route is expected to attract significant traffic from key markets, including South Asia. The airline will deploy a Boeing 777-200 Long Range aircraft on the route. It will have 259-seats in a two-class configuration. Qatar Airways CEO Akbar al-Baker said the aggressive promotional drive, which includes a series of gala dinners across the GCC, was a perfect way to promote what is set to be one of the airline’s most successful long-haul routes. “Eighteen months ago, Qatar Airways launched its US operations with flights to New York and Washington DC which have grown from strength to strength,” he said. “Both routes are now daily non-stop operated with our new long-haul flagship aircraft, the Boeing 777. From March 30th, we launch non-stop flights between Doha and Houston using our brand new Boeing 777-200 Long Range aircraft, the first of which we take delivery of early next month.” The Houston launch advertising campaign includes specially-produced 30-second television commercials being showcased across major international TV news networks featuring the airline’s best attributes – award-winning hospitality and promoting strong energy links between Doha and Houston. Speaking in Kuwait City yesterday, Qatar Airways regional manager Arabian Peninsula, Ali Abdul Khaliq said the new advertising campaign would reach out to the travelling public using all forms of media – TV, print, radio and online. “Our award-winning Five Star service is spreading far and wide with Houston our newest and 84th destination in our ever-growing international network,” he said. http://gulf-times.com/site/topics/article.asp?cu_no=2&item_no=266635&version=1&template_id=36&parent_id=16
