ACS Doha International School are pleased to announce the successful opening of their new Grade 11 year group, comprising 55 students aged 16-17. ACS Doha have once again experienced high student enrollment for the 2014/2015 academic year and are well positioned to provide a comprehensive PK-12 educational offering by September 2015.

ACS Doha’s recent expansion signifies the strong demand for high quality international schools in Doha and represents their commitment to providing excellent education opportunities for children in the State of Qatar. As a leading centre of quality international education, ACS Doha highlight that their current Grade 11 student body achieved a 98% pass rate for the 2013/2014 academic year.

Many of the new Grade 11 students at ACS Doha have begun their International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (IB DP) which aims to further develop the students’ knowledge, skills and attitude. In addition, students continue to be active and compassionate learners, with the core elements of IB DP including their Theory of Knowledge course and their Extended Essay which they will begin at the end of the year.

Another mandatory, core component of IBDP is the Creativity, action, service (CAS) which aims to provide a counterbalance to the academic rigour of the educational programme. CAS emphasises undertaking new challenges, increasing areas of strength and identifying areas of growth. It also focuses on students working collaboratively with others, and engaging with issues of global importance.

All of ACS Doha’s programmes are based upon the respect for unique learning styles and the understanding of their international student population. In line with this, ACS Doha have planned an IB Retreat for Grade 11 students which will further prepare the students for their final years of schooling including expectations for the course and how to achieve continued success. Later in the year, students will also have the option to attend a service learning trip to Cambodia as well as a World Language Trip to France and Spain. All of these activities are key opportunities for students to build their knowledge and increase their understanding both inside and outside the classroom.
