The second edition of the Qatar Marine Festival (QMF), which ended at the Cultural Village Foundation (Katara) yesterday, has been a huge success with more than 150,000 people visiting the event’s venues, a spokesperson for the organisers said. The event, conducted by the Qatar Marine Festival Organising Committee (QMFOC), was aimed at raising awareness about Qatar’s marine heritage. QMFOC chairwoman Sheikha Hanadi bint Nasser al-Thani said: “We’re delighted at how the festival has gone overall. We’ve seen thousands of smiling faces and been approached by countless people telling us what a fantastic time they have had here. It really couldn’t have gone any better.” The festival ran for just under a fortnight during which about 150,000 visitors stepped through the Katara gates.
