Many expats choose to give birth in their home country.In many countries, it's a tradition to be with the mother’s family when a woman is expecting.
Since Qatar announced free visas on arrival for newborns at the end of November, 2017, the new policy makes it easier for expectant expat mothers to re-enter the country post-delivery without the need for additional paperwork.

Qatar has announced that these visas on arrival would now be available for newborns with the condition they arrive in the country within six months of being born. The Ministry of Interior has said the child should have a valid passport and the mother should be under her husband’s sponsorship. The Ministry said immigration officers would also check the original birth certificate.
The move comes in the wake of several restrictions being lifted for Qatar visas. More countries have recently been added to the list which are eligible for visas on arrival.
The conditions for the newborn visa on arrival is as follows:
The visa is free of charge.
Fine for overstay:
QR 10 per day after expiration of the specified period which is two months outside the country and three months inside country.
