The upcoming display is dedicated to keeping children safe at home. The road show starts today January 3rd, 2013 till Saturday January 5th, 2013. The highlight of the stand this weekend is "the giant kitchen," showcasing adults how home environment and furniture items look in the eyes of small child. Adults will be asked to see themselves as small children and to appreciate the potential dangers in the kitchen including utensils such as oven/cookers with frying pan handles,: to demonstrate the risk of burns and scalds, drawers to demonstrate the risk of climbing onto units and the reach of sharp items such as knives, cupboards with chemical bottles to highlight the risk of poisoning, shelf units to showcase the risk of climbing and heavy objects falling on children; electric kettles accentuating the risk of pulling the kettle down resulting in burns and scalds, tables and chairs to demonstrate the risk of climbing and falling as well as reaching items on the table and high chairs exhibiting the risk of falling from heights Dr.Khalid Abdulnoor Saifeldeen , Director of the Hamad International Training Center (HITC), a partner in Kulluna, said ‘’Each year more than 40,000 children aged 14 and under suffer injuries at home’’. ‘’In fact 85%of all injuries to children occur in the home and all these are preventable. The injuries tend to fall into six main categories: falls, burns, drowning, being hit by cars in the driveway, choking and poisoning. This event seeks to educate the public on how to prevent such incidents.” Dr. Saifeldeen added. Gary Sykes, President ConcoPhillips Qatar further expressed his company's happiness at continuing to support the Kulluna Health and Safety campaign organized by the Hamad International Trading Center, stressing that such a drive brings to focus his company's core commitment to the cause of promoting health and safety in the communities that host its activities. He stated: "We are dedicated to continuing our efforts to support the State of Qatar's interest in improving health and safety among Qataris and expats and appreciate Hamad International Training Center's successive drives in this regard. This phase of the road show activities further highlight this commitment and are further enhanced by being held within the context of the Qatar International Trade Fair which receives tens of thousands of visitors and is one of the highlights of the community's activities. We have every faith that visitors, adults and children, Qataris and expats will be interested in the Kulluna display and will walk out with a better understanding of the need to dedicate attention and care to the issues of safety at home to protect our children."
