30 new firms to participate in career fair

The Heir Apparent H H Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani will open the second edition of the Qatar Career Fair (QCF) at the Doha International Exhibition Center today. The five-day fair is expected to attract more than 30,000 visitors. More than 115 companies, including 16 oil companies, are participating in the event. This year the Career Fair will witness the presence of thirty new companies. The participants include ministries, public and private companies, banks and insurance companies. The event is basically meant for giving ideas to the students and fresh graduates how to shape up their future by identifying an ideal career for them. The event will provide an ideal platform for employers to meet with potential candidates and to talk to them and introduce them to the work opportunities available for the future generation, all in one place. The fair will also offer a chance for students to have a more comprehensive view on the various types of jobs, training and development plans in various institutions. Many young Qataris and fresh Qatari graduates benefitted form the previous year’s fair. The participating public and private sector companies have been categorised as Diamond, Pearl, Gold, Silver and Bronze exhibitors. The Diamond package includes Amiri Diwan, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, General Command of Qatar Armed Forces, Vodafone, RasGas Company Limited, QatarGas, Maersk-QP, Doha Land, Qatar General Electricity and Water Corporation (Kahramaa) and Qatari Diar. The event venue will be divided into ‘villages’ based on the sectors represented — government, energy and industry, finance and business, education, health and sports. As part of the fair, special courses, workshops and seminars on developing skills in writing Curriculum Vitaes (CVs), giving job interviews and other employment-related subjects like work ethics, will be conducted. The fair will open on the first day from 4pm to 8pm and will dedicate April 15 for women only from 9 am to 3 pm while on the other days of the event will start from 9 am till 8 pm. 1,326 join Interior Ministry since ’08 DOHA: The Ministry of Interior (MOI) has employed 1,326 nationals since the first edition of the career fair in 2008. Around 567 of those recruited were women. The ministry has employed the nationals at various civil and security posts including the Immigration, Traffic, Airport departments and in various administrative positions at the ministry.
