DOHA: Qtel’s e-billing services continue to make an environmental impact with thousands more of its customers patronising the paperless online billing system. To date, more than 40,000 Accounts belonging to over 25,000 customers have signed up for the e-Bill, which sends a secure PDF to customers’ email addresses, and removes the need for a paper bill. To encourage more people to be take part on environmental awareness, Qtel offered a range of exciting prizes anew to the customers who sign-up for e-bill service before 1 October. As an added incentive, customers who switch-over to the e-bill before 1 October are being entered into a special draw where they can receive prizes including one of 10 iPads or three sets of 25,000 Nojoom Points. Paper bills will still be available after 1 October, but customers will be charged a fee of QR5 per bill if they wish to continue receiving them. These customers need to opt-in for the paper bill after Qtel moves all the remaining paper bill customers to the paper-free option and informs them of the changeover.Customers who choose to opt-in for paper bill will have to actively reactivate this option every six months if they want to continue to receive paper bill only. The whole initiative is supported by ictQtatar. All funds raised by this charge will be re-invested into Qtel’s pioneering e-Waste Recycling programme, which offers a convenient disposal point for unwanted electronic goods for all of Qatar. Phasing out paper billing for customers is part of Qtel’s wider environmental vision, which sees the company becoming a paper-free organisation that uses all resources in an entirely sustainable way. Qtel has set itself the goal of becoming a global pioneer among telecommunications companies through its vision for corporate social responsibility, “For Qatar, Hand in Hand.” Customers can send a free SMS from their Shahry number of the same account they wish to switch with “EBemail IDQID Number” (e.g. EB [email protected] 123456789) to 114, receive a verification message of the email ID supplied, and be immediately switched to the e-Bill upon confirmation. Alternatively, customers can select the e-Bill option and provide their email ID in their Account Page on the eQtel website, or they can call 111 and provide their Qatar ID details to do so. Customers can even switch over in Qtel Shops across the country. the peninsula
