18 people killed in road accidents in past three months

At least 18 persons have died and many were left injured, some of them critically, in road accidents in the country in the past three months, reports Al Sharq. The Department of Traffic and Patrol Police has urged motorists to exercise caution and follow traffic rules to ensure road safety. Motorists should particularly abide by speed limits, the Department said urging people to take part in a fresh road safety awareness campaign which has been launched recently. Giving details of some mishaps, the daily said on April 29 this year, a pedestrian was crossing the road (Street No 36) in the Industrial Area and he was hit by a speeding car. He suffered serious injuries and died on reaching hospital. The motorist was driving carelessly.
