17 outlets charged with selling expired tyres

The Consumer Protection Department (CPD) has initiated legal action against 17 outlets in the Industrial Area that were found selling expired tyres, in clear violation of the law. The violations were detected during surprise raids conducted by inspectors of the Department. As per the Qatari rules, tyres of cars, buses, vans and pick ups have 24 months validity starting from the date of manufacturing while the validity is 30 months for tyres of trucks, trailers and other heavy vehicles, said a statement issued by the Department. In view of the high number of violations, the Department has advised the public to clearly check the expiry date before buying tyres.
