The Public Parks Department at the Ministry of Municipality and Environment, in collaboration with the Public Works Authority ‘Ashghal,’ recently launched a so-called linear park in Qatar's Al Hilal area near Qatar Charity and The Mall.

With a total length of 1.5km and width of 50 meters, the park covers 75,000 sq metres and is surrounded by lush greenery and exercise walkways. The aim of building such parks, according to the Municipal Council, is to benefit and utilise such side spaces of streets and highways and turning them into green spaces to give citizens and residents the opportunity to exercise—especially now that Sports Day is just a few days away.

In a Twitter post, one Qatar resident who goes by the name of Yacine El Hichri wrote:

"Very beautifully-designed. Congratulations on this project!"

The project is based on the recommendations of Municipal Council member Sheikha Al-Jufairi.
