Pay tribute to the Queen and stream Elizabeth A Portrait In Parts at TOD

For many, Queen Elizabeth II has been synonymous with the United Kingdom and the other Commonwealth realms. She was the epitome of an absolute matriarch – poised, diligent, witty- someone who gracefully embodied power without inciting perturbation. Her death brings an era to its end – a reign spanning 70 years and 15 prime ministers, she was truly a constant presence in an ever-changing world.

For those who want a closer look into the monarch’s life and pay her a final befitting tribute, TOD, Qatar’s homegrown OTT platform for MENA is streaming “Elizabeth: A Portrait In Parts” as a homage to the Queen. Directed by Roger Michell, the documentary is composed of collages made from archival footage of Queen Elizabeth II’s life. Accompanied with subtitles in Arabic for the MENA viewers, the movie weaves in an interesting medley of clips, artfully paired with a soundtrack that further adds to the nostalgia. For example, the movie begins what most of us remember the Queen by - her trademark wave: elbow at a 90-degree angle, the slight pivot of the wrist. There isn't much narration throughout the movie other than the original soundtracks from the various segments, but what little there is allows us to witness The Queen's amazing wit and sensitivity from her childhood to her later years. A lot has been written and aired about this great Queen, but “Elizabeth: A Portrait in Parts” is a historical, yet peppy rendering of her life, offering a fresh perspective of a girl born into royalty.

In 90 minutes, the movie covers all of her significant life events, and underlines how she gave each royal ritual her own distinctive personality, turning them into unique representations of belonging to ‘Queen Elizabeth II’.

While the history buffs will love the movie, “Elizabeth: A Portrait In Parts” is also for anyone who wishes to see the human behind the crown, and chooses to bid her adieu with kind affection. As millions around the world mourn her loss, the documentary is a nostalgic yet celebratory reminder of the life of Queen Elizabeth II, the longest-lived, longest reigning British monarch and longest-serving female head of state in history.
