Kun Im? Mai Chai? Di!!!

If you're looking for a great evening full of awesome food - now's your opportunity. We checked out the Thai Food Festival that is happening now until the 5th October at the Marriott Marquis at the Crossroads Restaurant and WE LOVED IT! :)

Greeted with the familiar Sawasdee Kaa of all self respecting Thai Food experiences, we got stuck straight in with the plentiful Traditional Thai dishes on offer.

The Tom Yum soup is delicious, and not too spicy for the average Fa Lang (that's Thai for Foreigner). It's a watery soup filled with Prawns, Lemongrass and many vegetables. It's the perfect way to prepare you for what's to come - it has a little bit of a kick, but is not too filling, leaving plenty of space for the courses that follow.

Moving swiftly on, there's several curries to choose from. If you're looking for spice I'm recommending the fish, which is a version of the famous Pla Sam Rod (three flavour fish - Sweet/Sour/Salty). If you're still warming up then you won't go wrong with the Chicken and Cashew Nut Curry, and the Grilled chicken is 'phenomenous'.

Other classic dishes include the Pad Thai, and if you're in need of Red Meat they're serving up a really decent Beef Massaman Curry.

Of course, no thai festival would be complete without a Green Chicken Curry and theirs is 'arroy mak'.

Definitely worth a visit - just make sure you arrive hungry as you'll want to make the most of it!!

EVEN BETTER - Guests will stand a chance to win some fantastic raffle prizes such as two flight tickets to Bangkok provided by Qatar Airways, as well as several other vouchers including an amazing three night stay in a luxurious Executive Room with lounge access at the JW Marriott Bangkok Hotel.

Here's a few things to remember while you're there:

  • #CrossroadsThaiFest and #CrossroadsDoha are the Hashtags
  • @MarriottMarquisDoha is the account to tag on Twitter (but don't forget to tag @iloveqatar too - we always love to hear what's happening)

And here's some Thai words to get you through the night:

  • Sawasdee Krab (men say this) = hello
  • Sawasdee Kaa (women say this) = hello
  • Subai Di Mai Krab (men again) = How are you?
  • Subai Di Mai Kaa (women) = How are you?
  • Arroy = tasty
  • Mak = very
  • Pom Im = I am full
  • 555 = Thai way of writing 'lol' on social media and text messages
  • ^__^ = Happy face
  • ^______^ = VERY Happy face (the longer the smile the happier you are)

Enjoy!!
