To kick off its biggest ‘Summer in Qatar’ programme, Qatar National Tourism Council (QNTC) has announced a number of entertainment shows and new attractions that will be open to public from the first day of Eid Al Fitr.
Mashal Shahbik from QNTC commented “We are excited to launch the biggest Summer in Qatar program. This year’s entertainment offerings are geared towards families, with children’s shows and movie premieres, as well as concerts and sports.
With more than 30 public and private sector partners offering a range of exciting promotions and activities, we are excited to make Qatar an attractive destination for Eid holidays” She added, “The summer festivities, which this year include both Eid holidays,form a key part of our strategy to energise the tourism sector through diversifying Qatar’s events calendar."
Among the newest summer attractions this year, are three unique indoor theme parks operatedby Trimoo Parks and located inside Doha Festival City. The first ever Angry Birds Worldtheme park launches its new outdoor area. SNOW DUNES™– the country’s first indoor snow park with a cutting-edge snow-making system, is also expected to open this summer.VIRTUOCiTY™- a gaming and eSports venue spanning over 4,500 sqm will host a FIFA E-Sports Cup in partnership with PSG.
The family favourite returns on the first day of Eid Al Fitr. Spread out over the expansive ground floor of the Doha Exhibition & Convention Center, the Entertainment City offers fun for all ages including bouncy castles, mini-golf course, exciting rides, skill games, video games, as well as live entertainment shows, food, beverage and shopping options. It will be open daily from 12:30pm to 10:00pm and 1:30-11:00 pm on Fridays. An individual entry ticket costs QAR 15 with day passes and season passes range between QAR 150 – QR 1,250. Individual game prices range from 10 QAR to 35 QAR.
Adding to the season’s festivities will be the vibrant Eid celebrations at Katara Cultural village, Souq Waqif and Souq Al Wakrah. These will include cultural performances, musical acts and family shows with a special fireworks display at Katara Cultural Village.
From the first to the fifth day of Eid Al Fitr, all participating malls will put on free entertainment shows for shoppers and families looking for some indoor fun. Besides the shows, there will be a special Meet & Greet session with Captain Marvel and Hulk at these malls. Lagoona Mall will have a special show ‘Aladdin’, at 5:00 pm. Woody and Buzz Lightyear fans can enjoy Toy Story 4, premiering this Eid.
The 9 malls participating in this year’s summer fun include: Doha Festival City, Mall of Qatar, Lagoona Mall, Landmark Mall, Gulf Mall, Tawar Mall, Al Khor Mall, Hyatt Plaza, and Al Mirqab Mall.
Starting 4 June, retailers at these malls will be offering up to 70% discounts and special promotions. For every QAR 200 spent at any of the participating outlets in these malls, shoppers can be part of the three raffle draws being held throughout the summer. Prizes include cash and cars worth up to QAR 2 Million, with a grand prize of McLaren Spider 570s(2018 model).
Qatar Museum’s Culture PassPlus and Culture Pass Family offers benefits such as exclusive discounts on tourism products, outdoor, mall and retail activities, family entertainment as well as a variety of calligraphy classes and colouring classes throughout the season. Available at the National Museum of Qatar, The Museum of Islamic Arts or at the Mathaf: Arab Museum of Modern Art.
A wide range of hotels and hotel apartments will offer discounts of up to 25%, valid for stays between 4 June – 16 August 2019 along with several additional incentives and promotions at facilities. Qatar Airways will offer a discount of 25% on all flights to Doha from more than 160 destinations worldwide, for travel to Qatar anytime between 30 May – 16 August.
