Souq Waqif Boutique Hotels (SWBH), the exclusive hotel collection owned and managed by Al Rayyan Hospitality, celebrated the Garangao night, the age-old annual Qatari tradition on the night of mid-Ramadan.
Joy filled the air when the children visiting historic Souq Waqif received SWBH’s special Garangao bountiful gifts of all kinds of sweets and nuts. The night has always been an important feature of Qatari heritage and traditions throughout its history.
Shaikha Al Mudahka, PR Director at SWBH, said: “Garangao is an Arabian Gulf national, traditional festivity held annually on the night of mid-Ramadan when children knock door to door in their neighborhoods, singing their Garagao traditional songs and receiving gifts and sweets bags. SWBH has always been keen to honour these festivities and commit to celebrating the night with the children for the joy and happiness it brings to them.”
Amid wide support and welcome during the night, a large number of children poured into the streets wearing their traditional clothes and happily smiling while listening to traditional stories. They also sang the Garangao song and learned about old traditional handicrafts in a great family atmosphere.
