Second week at the Khalifa International Stadium fan zone attracts more than 40,000 football fans

Aspire Zone Foundation continued to attract thousands of visitors to its Khalifa International Stadium Fan Zone, organised in collaboration with the Supreme Committee for Delivery & Legacy, with more than 40,000 football fans from all over Qatar attending since the Fan Zone opened last Friday, 15 June.

Crucial matches between Brazil and Serbia, Argentina and Nigeria in addition to Tunisia and Panama, saw the highest number of attendees during the second week of the tournament, as the Fan Zone welcomed locals and expatriates in Qatar.

On the second week, the Khalifa International Stadium Fan Zone also attracted a number of dignitaries, including Sheikh Tamim bin Mohammed Al Thani, Vice President of Umm Salal Sports Club, HE Mr. Hans-Udo Muzel, the Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany, HE Mr. Salah Al Salhi, the Ambassador of the Republic of Tunisia to the State of Qatar, and HE Mr. Oreste Del Rio Sandoval, the Ambassador of the Republic of Panama to the State of Qatar.

On the sidelines of the Argentina vs Nigeria match, Sheikh Tamim bin Mohammed Al Thani, Vice President of Umm Salal Sports Club, said: “I’d like to extend my thanks to the organising committee for the great efforts they put in to make the Khalifa International Stadium a big success, as testified by the large number of attendees on a daily basis, which makes it one of the most fun places in Qatar from which to watch the 2018 FIFA World Cup Russia matches.”

Meanwhile, HE Mr. Hans-Udo Muzel, the Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany, said: “I’d like to extend my thanks to Aspire Zone Foundation for organising this great Fan Zone in Khalifa International Stadium. It’s great to see so many people here watching and enjoying football, because sport brings people together. I look forward to the 2022 FIFA World Cup Qatar.”

HE Mr. Salah Al Salhi, the Ambassador of the Republic of Tunisia to the State of Qatar praised the organising committee for the success of the Khalifa International Stadium Fan Zone, and extended his wishes to see Arab teams perform better at the 2022 FIFA World Cup Qatar™ tournament.

Mr. Salhi was accompanied by HE Mr. Oreste Del Rio Sandoval, the Ambassador of the Republic of Panama to the State of Qatar for the Tunisia vs Panama match. Speaking from the sidelines, Mr. Sandoval remarked: “The Khalifa International Stadium Fan Zone is really great, thanks to Aspire Zone Foundation for organising it.”

Commenting on his country’s performance at the tournament, Mr. Sandoval added: “This is Panama’s first FIFA World Cup participation, and it has been a tremendous experience which will benefit us at upcoming tournaments.”

Aspire Zone Foundation has also launched the ‘Aspire Fan Zone Photography Competition’ that will see amateur and professional photographers in Qatar compete for their chance to win valuable prizes.

The competition will run until the end of the 2018 FIFA World Cup Russia™ tournament on 15 July. Entrants can compete at the Competition by posting their photos on Instagram under the hashtag #AspireFanZone.

Winners will receive valuable prizes from the Khalifa International Stadium Fan Zone’s sponsors and organisers, including a chance to enjoy the tournament’s final matches from one of the Majlis seats free of charge.

One of the Fan Zone’s key features is the capacity to host thousands of football fans daily. Due to the growing number of fans attending, Aspire Zone Foundation has extended the number of spectator seats to more than 5,000 seats for football fans, organised in a variety of options.

Fans looking to watch the games in a more private setting can choose from 16 VIP skyboxes at an updated price of 1,500 QAR each from 30 June until 14 July and at a cost of 2,000 QAR on the final day of the tournament on 15 July.

Fans can also choose from 24 Majlis with authentic designs inspired by Qatari culture, at an updated cost of 650 QAR each from 30 June until 14 July and a cost of 1,000 QAR on the final day of the tournament on 15 July.

Elsewhere, fans can enjoy the matches from Khalifa International Stadium’s spectator stands free of charge.

Tickets are sold through the Q-tickets website and mobile application. A ticket booth will also be set up at the main entrance of the Fan Zone at Khalifa International Stadium. Prices may vary depending on the match and seating options. Fans who buy tickets will be automatically enrolled in a raffle draw for a chance to win a valuable car from one of the event’s sponsors.

The Fan Zone is the ideal location for the country’s football fans to celebrate the most anticipated sporting event in the world, to follow World Cup games and keep up-to-date with all the action. Games will be screened at the Fan Zone every day throughout the tournament.
