The cooler weather finally meant that nights out will not be spent cooped up inside your home or a restaurant or simply driving around in the car. And I couldn’t wait to start liking the city of Doha again. I work in Westbay, so I wanted to try a new area. Which is when I discovered Zubarah’s BBQ Live Nights and it looked extremely promising.

At first the evening was about the beautiful open air seating and the melodious Oud music but two hours after feasting on the meats, it was clearly about the food. When we entered Baraha, which serves contemporary Arabic cuisine, we were escorted to the outdoor seating area which faces a major road. We had some doubts about being able to listen to the live Oud music, but soon realised that the glass doors effectively cancel out the traffic passing by.

Once settled in, we decided to go straight for the meat and ordered a mixed assortment. The lamb kebabs and the grilled prawns were our favourites. The chicken was also very well done and deliciously juicy.

While we proceeded to the desserts, Executive Chef Jumie asked us for our feedback. He spoke to us about the secrets of a good BBQ (Nope..I’m not sharing) and the joys of Doha winters.

What makes Zubarah the top of my list is the feeling of belonging I felt from the moment I entered. The staff is a family and I instantly felt like I was in their home as a guest. If you don’t have plans for Thursday night book your table now. Even if you do have plans, cancel that and go for Zubarah’s BBQ Live Nights.
