A Press Preview for the forthcoming Qatar International Boat Show was held today, Monday 10th Nov, 2014 at Lusail Marina, onboard a 100ft. luxury dhow. The event was an introduction to the second edition of the Qatar International Boat Show that will take place from 11-15 Nov, 2014 at Lusail Marina, Lusail City. VIP and Media Day will take place on Tues, 11th Nov, with the show opening to the public on 12-15th Nov from 3pm-9.30pm.

Presiding over this Press briefing were: Faysal Mikati (Vice President of QIBS Organizer, Snow Comms), Essa Al Mannai (Chairman of Snow Comms and Al Mannai Marine) and Pantelis Stathis (Boat Show Director) who shared with the Press details of boats appearing at the show, as well as some events that we can look forward to seeing. Members of the Press were also given a guided tour of the luxury yacht, which was made in Qatar by Al Mannai Marine at Al Khor Shipyard.

The 150 tonne dhow took 2 years to make and has a value of between QR 10-12 million. It incorporates the latest technological developments of a luxury yacht, while maintaining the traditional look of a dhow and has 5 bedrooms, a spacious lounge, kitchen, crew quarters and sun decks. Traditionally, the engines of a dhow are located in the middle of the craft, whereas this luxury dhow has them located at the back, to ensure low noise levels.

The Boat Show, due to be inaugurated by H.E. the Minister of Economy and Trade, Sheikh Ahmed Bin Jassim Bin Mohamed Al Thani, will have 75 boats in total on display, including a Gulf Craft Majesty 101, an Amer Yacht 92 and a Behnemar 90, as well as the beautiful luxury dhow.

There will also be 5 top quality exhibition areas: Marina Display, External Area, Shipyards and Boatyards, Equipment Accessories and Services and Luxury Products and Services and guests can enjoy Harley Davidson Showcases, Fly Boarding demonstrations, Kite Surfing stunts and QSUP (Qatar Stand Up Paddling).

Entry to the Qatar International Boat Show is free.
