Ras Laffan Industrial City Community Outreach Program and the Northern communities celebrated Eid last week with extended festivities. The festival was organized in collaboration with various ministries and institutions including the Ministry of Interior, Productive Families Development Department and the Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs as well as Al Khor and Dhakeera municipalities.
The festival took place from Sunday 5th October until Wednesday 8th October at Al Khor Commercial Street; including a variety of events and activities to engage all public attendees across different age groups.
The festival was designed to cater to all needs and provide family services including a public restaurant, coffee shop, Mosque, public theatre, an “Emergency” location supervised by Hamad Medical center as well as various games and competitions with prizes distributed to all children who participated in the festivities. Popular events included the (Include Show details & Names) at the public theatre, where children and families enjoyed lively entertainment across the four days of the festival.
Spoke person from Ras Laffan Industrial City Community Outreach Program commented “The Eid Festival organized with the support of the RLIC-COP is a true message of our commitment towards building a common ground between all members of the community. We do understand the needs of the Northern Communities that vary according to age group and we are keen to provide them with all necessary to build a better future.”
Mr. Khamees Al Merekhi; Director of Community Development Center commented “This festival is considered to be a major attraction not only to the Northern Communities’ inhabitants but beyond that, from Doha as well as other GCC countries. Therefore the festival this year witnessed an increase in attendances this year with more than 40,000 people attending the festival.”
The festival aimed to showcase the Qatari heritage and Northern Communities in particular. In addition; the festival had a booth dedicated to Qatari Productive Families which was widely visited by the public.
