Katara to host jazz event in November

Cultural Village Foundation - Katara has inked an agreement with representatives of nine embassies in Doha in a bid to host the third edition of Katara - European Jazz Festival 2016.

The third edition of the popular annual event will be held from November 2 to 7 at building 5 at Katara.

This was announced yesterday during a press conference organised by Katara in partnership with the embassies of France, Spain, Germany, Austria, Switzerland and Italy along with the missions of Portugal, Poland and Bulgaria which are participating for the first time.

Katara General Manager Dr Khalid bin Ibrahim al-Sulaiti said: “Following the spectacular success of the previous editions, today we continue at boosting our co-operation to present the third edition of this festival.”

He hoped “this year’s edition will attract a significant number of fans. Hosting similar events stresses Katara’s vision of bringing cultures together.”
“Music is an international genre that captivates different human senses and feelings, therefore, Katara as a cultural hub works to offer all kinds of musical culture as boundless human language to boost cultural ties and promote cultural partnerships.”
He thanked the embassies and Qatar Airways for their contribution and co-operation.
“We are confident that the festival will boost cultural ties.”

The envoys of European countries said this year’s edition is extraordinary in terms of the number of participating countries and the significant participation of the renowned international bands such as Atom String Quartet, Three Fall along with many other bands that will rock Katara’s stage for the event.
