Interior Ministry depts take part in National Day events

As the festivities of the Qatar National Day celebrations 2014 are in full swing at Darb Al Saai, the Ministry of Interior (MoI) is partaking in the events represented by its different departments.

General Directorate of Traffic and Civil Defence has launched its activities in Darb Al Saai. The Director General of Traffic Brigadier Mohamed Saad al-Kharji opened the Traffic Village in Madina Khalifa Traffic department.

The opening ceremony was attended by Qatar’s racing hero Nasser bin Saleh al-Attiyah, Taiseer Abdullah and Social

Responsibility Director of Qatar Shell Mohamed Abu Jabara.

The Director General of the Traffic said that Traffic Village is prepared mainly to make the upcoming generation, in particular children, aware of road and traffic rules.

Many infotainment activities are arranged for the children to enjoy and learn through games.

Nasser bin Saleh al-Attiyah said that the initiative launched by the Traffic Department was exemplary as it would help a lot to raise the traffic awareness among the children.

More than 1,500 students from 60 schools have already visited the village within two days.

The head of Traffic Awareness Section Captain Riyadh Ahmad said that the main objective of the participation of Traffic department in the event is to inculcate the culture of safe traffic among the youth and the children.

The Civil Defence also takes part in the celebrations with several safety and security awareness activities.

The awareness tent is all set with notable tips and events on fire safety. Islamic scholar Abdullah al-Marri spoke on safety from the viewpoint of religion.

Lt Abdul Hadi al-Marri, the awareness officer at Civil Defence, said that the department is keen to participate in the national day events in order to deliver the message of safety to the public.

Several informative contests are being conducted in the tent that would help to raise the safety awareness among the people.
