Eid Al Fitr Festival Begins at Souq Waqif and Souq Al Wakrah

Eid Al Fitr festival, organized by the celebrations committee of the Private Engineering Office, started on Wednesday at Souq Waqif and Souq Al Wakrah and lasts for five days.

Qatari and resident families took the opportunity to target the two antique markets to introduce joy and pleasure in the hearts of their children because of the variety of games at promotional prices and in ideal conditions.

Speaking to Qatar News Agency (QNA), Manager of Souq Waqif Mohammed Al Salem said that the organization of this celebration every year is to bring happiness and joy to everyone in these blessed days, especially as Souq Waqif is one of the most popular destinations in Qatar. He pointed out that the celebrations of Eid Al Fitr are held inside a large air-conditioned tent in Al Ahmad square, which includes games, programs and a variety of plays for children.

Al Salem pointed out that the organization of events inside the tent is due to the weather conditions in this part of the year, adding that the festival is also accompanied by activities and workshops for children by Souq Waqif center for arts throughout the Eid.

Meanwhile, Souq Al Wakrah witnessed a huge turnout from the families since the early hours of Eid Al Fitr celebrations in the air-conditioned tent allocated by the management of the Souq.

Souq Manager Khalid Saif Al Suwaidi told QNA that Souq witnessed large number of visitor in the first day of Eid Al Fitr celebrations.

He added that the festival is held in a large tent, which contains more than 40 individual skills and games on the waterfront, in addition to several artistic performances, acrobatics shows and more, every day from 4 pm to 10 pm.

He added that the fireworks attracted thousands of visitors in the first day. He pointed out that the organization of this event came due to the high demand for it because of the beautiful scenes it creates on the waterfront of Souq Al Wakrah.

Al Suwaidi pointed out that Souq Al Wakra is ready to receive the masses, whether by providing electric cars for smooth navigation or vital facilities, restaurants, and cafes.

Souq Waqif and Souq Al Wakrah are characterized by their traditional architectural design, which preserves the peculiarities of traditional Qatari architecture, whether in shops, street organization, paving and walls.
