The nationwide public celebrations for the 47th Qatar National Day(QND2018) have wrapped up recently but its spirit is still widely felt by both locals and expats.

With this in consideration, a homegrown Qatari filmmaker who goes by the name of Ali Al Sulaiti presents "2030", a 67-minute long animated feature film that celebrates puts spotlight on the Qatar National Vision 2030 (QNV 2030).

Al Sulaiti's aim is to inspire the younger generation toward the fruition of their dreams and aspirations as the proudly-Made in Qatar film which he directed creatively shows how to prepare Qatar's youth to be the leaders of tomorrow and how they can contribute to making Qatar one of the greatest countries in the world.

It tells the story of six Qataris who pursue their goals by studying abroad to give back to their country which nurtured them. The film's title alludes to the QNV 2030 to which the main characters dedicate their energy and achievements.

2030 animated film

The QNV 2030 has been in development since 2008. It aims to transform Qatar into a developed country capable of achieving sustainable development and securing a decent life for its current and future generations 12 years from now.

“I made the film with the thought of motivating people to achieve their dreams, to be creative, and to think out of the box. I studied abroad and it was a difficult experience but I was inspired to pursue my dreams. I combined that motivation, studying abroad and National Vision in this film,” Al Sulaiti told The Peninsula.

The young filmmaker is a firm believer in making films to spread positivity and personal development. It took him and an online team of professionals from different countries two years to finish the film from screenwriting to storyboarding to production.

“It is in 2D style animation like the Japanese anime style, which I chose because people in our region like Japanese anime so I wanted to take inspiration from it in creating my own film,” he added.
