The University of Calgary in Qatar (UCQ) is set to host its first ever “Experience UCQ” event for prospective nursing students and their families. This informative, interactive event will take place on Saturday, November 30th on the UCQ campus on Al Forousiya Road (opposite the horse race track) from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm.
“Experience UCQ will be an exclusive opportunity for future UCQ students to experience what it’s like to be a nursing student at our university,” explained Justin Fox, Director of Student and Enrolment Services. “This is an exciting opportunity to engage with faculty, alumni, and current students in one-on-one conversations and interactive nursing demonstrations and tours of our unique Clinical Simulation Centre.”
The University of Calgary in Qatar is the only Canadian university in Qatar and is the country’s exclusive provider of Bachelor and Master nursing education. More than 700 nursing leaders have graduated from UCQ and are now working in all facets of Qatar’s healthcare system.
Accredited in Canada and adapted to the local culture, the University’s curriculum provides its nursing students with the knowledge and expertise to become fully-integrated leaders in Qatar’s healthcare sector. UCQ’s enrolment has grown dramatically as the demand for nurses has increased. The university expects to double its enrolment over five years to address the need for nurses in Qatar
The University of Calgary in Qatar offers two paths to a Bachelor of Nursing degree: a four-year program for qualified high school graduates and a two-year program for nurses holding diplomas in nursing from recognized institutions. The University also offers a Master of Nursing. This is a program designed in collaboration with Qatar’s nursing community to further develop leaders in the profession.
