Qatar University transitions to a comprehensive university

President of Qatar University (QU) Dr. Hassan Rashid Al Derham said that the University has achieved in the past years important steps that enabled it to implement a comprehensive reform and administrative and academic development, and was able to achieve international academic accreditation for most of its programs, and moved from being a university focusing on teaching and learning to a comprehensive university dealing with teaching, research, community service and postgraduate studies.

In his speech on the occasion of organizing Qatar University's annual forum for the academic year 2019-2020, in which the distinguished faculty, staff, and students were honored, Dr. Al Derham explained that Qatar University has taken a leading position in university classification scale, stressing that Qatar University would not have reached this position without the concerted efforts and support that the university gets from good leadership.

Dr. Al Derham said that Qatar University has been able to produce an increasing number of researches and scientific studies annually to become one of the fastest-growing research producing universities in the Middle East.

He pointed out that the administration of Qatar University will continue to strive to create a university academic and research environment, and a rich and diverse university and student life, all within the framework of quality and excellence, and will seek that students will get the best "university experience" in addition to attracting and choosing the best professors and scientific competencies from all universities and scientific and research institutions from all over the world, and offering academic programs comparable to the best international universities.

He pointed out that the pursuit of all this is to make Qatar University stimulating the social and economic development in the State of Qatar and its decent society. At the end of his speech, Dr. Al Derham reiterated that Qatar University is dealing with the student as a key partner in the educational process, which is represented by the broad participation of student councils in the formulation of university work in a manner consistent with the vision of the university in creating a generation of Qataris able to serve the State of Qatar in all fields.
