Oryx Universal College in partnership with Liverpool John Moores University marked the graduation of 86 students from its MSc Project Management and BSc (Hons) Computer Science programmes. The event served as a celebration of the commitment and dedication demonstrated by the graduating students of the recently established collaborative partner. Embedding themselves as trailblazers of STEM Education within the region, OUC stands with a growing alumni community of 95 highly skilled and competent graduates, ready to be key contributors to the industry, community and the nation.

The ceremony, held on 27th March 2022 at the Qatar National Convention Center, inaugurated by the President of the College, Mr Azmy Ameer, was also attended by many esteemed members of the governmental, industry and corporate sectors of the State of Qatar. Some notable people who attended the ceremony included the Undersecretary of Minister of Education and Higher Education, Dr Ibrahim Al-Naimi, Assistant Undersecretary for Higher Education Affairs, Dr. Khalid Al-Ali, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Telecommunication and Information Technology, Mr. Hassan Al-Sayed, Deputy Ambassador at the British Embassy in Doha, Alexandra Cole, Snoonu’s Founder and CEO Hamad Mubarak Al-Hajri and various esteemed members of MoEHE alongside OUC’s Board of Trustees.

Oryx Universal College ensured to offer its students a high-quality educational journey and do justice to their trust in the College especially in its first year of full-time operations, despite the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic. The graduands had arrived at the location with their friends and family, to celebrate their success after having demonstrated their commitment, grit and dedication to their academic journey at the College.

The evening was a commemoration of the academic milestone achieved by students graduating from the MSc Project Management programme along with the first undergraduate cohort of OUC to graduate from the BSc (Hons) Computer Science programme. The conferral of the degrees was officiated by the Dean of Academic Affairs, Professor Rafid AlKhaddar, who had invited the graduands to collect their degree awards, handed over to them by Dr Denise Lee and the President of OUC, Mr Azmy Ameer. The memorabilia was handed over by the Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Oryx Universal College in partnership with Liverpool John Moores University, Dr Homaid Al-Madfa and Dr Ibrahim Al-Naimi, the Undersecretary of Minister of Education and Higher Education.

With the evening concluding, Oryx Universal College marked another major milestone in its journey towards becoming an industry leader and quality education provider. With its purpose and vision, the College moves forward with a growing and diverse portfolio of new postgraduate programmes for students to pursue in the following academic year. These programmes include, MSc Leadership and Management Practices, MSc Cyber Security and MSc Investment and Finance. The undergraduate programmes scheduled for launch cover areas including BA (Hons) Human Resources Management, BEng (Hons) Mechanical Engineering and BSc (Hons) Software Engineering. Successfully conferring 86 students and the nation’s leaders of tomorrow, OUC is determined to drive the next level of transformation in the higher education provided to students across the GCC.
