The right school for your child can make a huge difference in his or her development. At GEMS American Academy Qatar (GAAQ), education is all about overall student development (academic, social, emotional, physical and cognitive). As part of the GEMS Education international school community, GAAQ promotes growth through learning, global citizenship, the pursuit of excellence, and leadership through innovation.

Premier education focusing on holistic development

GEMS American Academy Qatar (GAAQ), located in Al Wakra, is a state-of-the-art center of inspirational learning that enables students to make decisions independently, solve problems effectively and interact positively with tolerance.

Along with U.S. core standards-based academics, it provides an Advanced Placement (AP) Program as well as a robust extra-curricular program to support the holistic development of a child.

This premier academy, backed by GEMS Education, the largest operator of K – 12 schools in the world, is also accredited by the New England Association of Schools and Colleges (NEASC).

American curriculum in a diverse school culture

The school’s rigorous American curriculum includes Early years (Pre-K to KG-2), Elementary years (Grades 1 to 5), Middle School (Grades 6 to 8), and High School (Grades 9 to 12). Click here for a more comprehensive look at the school’s curriculum for every grade level.

In addition to the core subjects of Language Arts, Mathematics, Science, and Social Studies, the curriculum includes Elective courses such as Art, IT, Music, Physical Education, Arabic Language, Islamic Studies, and Qatar History.

GAAQ is home to over 80 different student nationalities and 15 teacher nationalities. This international vibe ultimately improves the quality of education, helps students feel safer, reflects the world, and challenges school administration to implement diversity programs that positively impact parents, students, and staff.

Enriching student life through after school activities

After school activity offerings include, but are not limited to, sports, reading, art, yoga, chess, math, chess, Islamic/Qur’an, foreign language, LEGO/engineering, music and theater performances, service-learning trips, Girl Scouts, multiple volunteering opportunities, AP coursework as well as various student-led initiatives such as Yearbook Club, Environmental Club (students take care of our greenhouse), Student Council, and THIMUN.

Multiple options for school transportation

The school has a wide-reaching bus service that serves 28+ locations in Al Wakra and Doha. Each bus has a bus conductor, CCTV and a dedicated phone for parent contact.

In addition, both GEMS Education Qatar schools are the first schools to partner with Qatar Rail on a dedicated shuttle bus from Ras Bu Fontas station to school. Now, GAAQ is no more than 30 - 35 minutes away from any metropolitan Doha rail station. Lastly, families can opt to bring their students to school or carpool with a neighboring family.

What Makes GAAQ Unique

  • Fully-accredited, K-12 international academy by the New England Association of Schools and Colleges (NEASC)
  • College Board-certified school offering 7 Advanced Placement (AP) courses
  • Named “The 10 Best International Schools in Qatar” by The Knowledge Review magazine
  • Earned highest parent satisfaction rating among all K-12 schools in the entire GEMS Education network
  • Partnered with Qatar Rail - the first school offering a dedicated school shuttle from Ras Bu Fontas station to GEMS Education Qatar schools and vice versa

Due to unforeseen circumstances out of our control, the school has decided to POSTPONE the Spring Fair indefinitely.

GAAQ’s popular annual Spring Fair is happening on Friday, March 6th from 2:00 pm – 6:00 pm.
Coordinated by the Parent Association and the Parent Relations Executive, the Spring Fair offers an array of different games and activities, a vendor bazaar, musical and dance performances (various student performances and different selections by IAID), arts & crafts and a flock of diverse food vendors (including, but not limited to, McDonald’s, Tiger Cookies, Pizza Box and Exit 55).

Entry tickets are only 5 QAR per person and children 2 years old and below are free. Bring the family together for GAAQ’s Spring Fair because lasting memories are made around food, fun, and games!

So if you want your children to learn how to think creatively, design innovatively, develop confidence, increase cognitive thinking, and become well-adjusted citizens in the global community, GEMS American Academy Qatar is just the school you’re looking for.
