The Youth Company, Qatar’s social enterprise and in collaboration with W Doha Hotel & Residences, has launched its Ramadan volunteer program “7asanat Olympics”. Starting on Monday June 30, 7asanat Olympics serves as a platform provider to youth for volunteering and engaging with the community during the month of Ramadan.

The program, powered by Gulf Warehousing Company and in partnership with 28 Black and Al-Abdulla Group Enterprise, aims to distribute 3000 iftar boxes on traffic lights, prior and after the time of iftar. The objective behind this distribution is to avoid road-sided incidents during the time of iftar, by providing on-road assistance to the fasting drivers. These iftar boxes will include dates, water, miswak and Ramadan calendar for the drivers.

“It is a great honor to serve the community during the Holy month of Ramadan by supporting this initiative that aims to encourage youth participation in volunteer work. We wish every success for the initiative, the volunteers and The Youth Company who will spend every effort in serving Qatar’s local community,” said Ranjeev Menon, Group CEO at Gulf Warehousing Company.

Apart from the iftar distribution, The Youth Company has also partnered with local organizations as well as W Doha that are offering volunteering opportunities, which include Supreme Education Council, Hamad Medical Corporation and Sheikh Eid Charity Association. Other activities from 7asanat Olympics program consist of visiting elderly homes, Garangou celebrations at Al-Sadd Pediatrics Emergency Center, Supreme Education Council at Katara and with Qatar Museums at Al-Riwaq. TYC Volunteers will also be visiting residential compounds to collect used clothes and items from donors which will be distributed to charity.

With more than 150 youth volunteers dedicating their time towards the rewarding exercise to collect and distribute essential items in the Holy month, TYC plans to provide up to 500 volunteering hours to youth.

To ensure an outstanding community outreach program, TYC has partnered with iloveqatar.net to co-host and activate volunteering enthusiasm during Ramadan.

“The month of Ramadan is a holy month for the Muslims across the globe where people tend to extend helpful supports to the needy in particular and TYC has launched the 7asanat Olympics program to reach out during the fasting period”, said Aya Abu Issa, CEO of The Youth Company International.

Following the charity items collection and distribution, TYC will launch its iftar street campaign, handling more than 3000 food items which will be packed into several food boxes and distributed across major streets in Doha.

“We are deeply committed to supporting the community; we are focusing on being a caring neighbour through our 7asanat activities”, Aya added.

W Doha’s General Manager, Safak Guvenc comments, “We are honoured to be partnering with The Youth Company during the holy month of Ramadan. It is fantastic to be involved in an initiative that serves the local community and encourages youth participation with volunteer work. On behalf of W Doha we wish everyone a blessed month ahead and the best success to the initiative”.
