Reach Out To Asia (ROTA), a member of Qatar Foundation for Education, Science and Community Development (QF), participated in the second edition of the Social Innovation and Global Ethics Forum 2015 (SIGEF) at the Bâtiment des Forces Motrices in Geneva, Switzerland, from 23rd to 25th October. Executive Director of ROTA Mr Essa Al Mannai was invited by the Horyou Foundation, a non-profit institution based in Geneva, to join distinguished international speakers who shared their ideas and thoughts on effective solutions to shape a better future. Mr Al Mannai presented ROTA’s vision, which is aligned to QF’s vison, of the youth’s role in overcoming social challenges and how to foster an environment conducive to helping youth reach their full potential. Mr Al Mannai said the challenges the youth are facing are becoming more difficult every day and everywhere. He explained that these challenges do not only relate to conflicts and armed conflicts, but also to climate change, which has become a major threat to humanity. ROTA has a strong belief in youth capabilities and is confident that youth can and will rise to the occasion and help solve these challenges. To achieve this, education is the most important step in youth development and empowerment. If a young person is deprived of education then the entire community is deprived of progress. Therefore, ROTA is adamant in ensuring the development of youth through education. On this occasion, Mr Al Mannai stated: “ROTA aims to build a strong and sustainable community based on education and this is in-line Qatar Foundation’s mission to develop sustainable human capacity, social and economic prosperity for a knowledge-based economy.” He added: “At ROTA we have achieved great results when we engaged youth and gave them the opportunity to lead. They have never let us down.” The Social Innovation and Global Ethics Forum (SIGEF) is an annual international event that gathers non-profit organizations, speakers, social entrepreneurs and the public for three days of dialogue and interaction. Over 100 NGO, 60 speakers and 60 media representatives participated in 14 different sessions this year.
