Qatar Post celebrated the World Post Day which is Observed on October 9 each year with several activities and events.
Chairman and Managing Director of Qatar Post Faleh Al Nuaimi said that the World Post Day represents a special occasion to celebrate the achievements and the development of the post sector and its institutions which give priority to serving individuals, the community and business.
Al Nuaimi underlined that Qatar Post was keen on developing and modernizing its offers since its inception. Based on its vision that aims at expanding globally, Qatar Post has been able to direct its efforts to strengthen Qatar Post's position in the region as a hub for postal and logistics services.
Al Nuaimi noted that Qatar Post launched innovative postal products and services, such as the inauguration of e-commerce and service platforms to meet the needs of the customers and online shoppers in Qatar. Qatar Post also expanded and modernized its national network in line with this trend. Today, Qatar Post has become an institution that enjoys a great confidence from the Qatari community and a model for innovation which provides the people of Qatar with the best offers from around the world through its platforms.
The activities to celebrate the World Post Day were launched today with a ceremony to honor the three winners of the 48th International Creative Writing Competition. Nearly 39 children aged 15 took part in the competition.
During the ceremony, the winners received their medals and certificates of appreciation and gifts. The ceremony concluded with an educational tour of Qatar Post's operations and logistics facilities aimed at introducing students to the various postal operations, the innovative products and services offered to individuals and companies, as well as giving the guests a brief overview of the company's history and development in the Qatari market.
The international community observes the World Post Day on October 9 each year on the anniversary of the Universal Postal Union (UPU), which started in 1874 in Switzerland.
The World Post Day was launched in the UPU conference in Tokyo in 1969. Since then, countries all over the world take part in celebrations to highlight the importance of the postal service.
