The Friends of the Environment Center today organized a comprehensive environmental campaign at Raudat Wadi Lusail entitled "Our Environment Our Future" on the occasion of the celebration of the Environment Day of Qatar on 26 February each year. The campaign was organized in cooperation with the Agricultural Affairs Department at the Ministry of Municipality and Environment, the Qatari Society of Al Gannas (Sniper Association), the Jamiliya Girls' Centre and Al-Jamiliya Youth Center, with the participation of foreign communities and public and private schools. The campaign, in which 150 students have participated, included planting a bunch of trees in the Qatari environment, cleaning Raudat Wadi Lusail and explaining the importance of Qatari plants and ways to preserve them.
Chairman of the Board of Friends of the Environment Center Farhood Al-Hajri said that preserving and protecting the environment is everyone responsibility, pointing out that the relationship between environment and the human being is reciprocal relationship, and that duties towards the environment do not stop at the limit of the legal obligation, but reflects morality. Al-Hajeri said that Qatar's environment and its objectives include identifying individuals' responsibility for their environment as the only way to make the environment of Qatar an opportunity for all members of the Qatari community to contribute to the benefit of their environment and to spread a culture of responsibility towards them. For his part, Director of Programs and Activities at the Friends of the Environment Center Mubarak Al-Dosari, said that the campaign's program was rich, particularly in terms of the environmental heritage, pointing out to the traditional folklore about the costumes of Qatar in the past, with a popular folklore narrator about the Qatari customs and traditions in cooperation with Al-Jamiliyah Youth and Al-Jumailia Girls' centers, as well as a presentation of falcons used in the hunting in cooperation with the Qatar Sniper Society (Al Gannas).
