This event offered a wide range of activities and workshops tailored to create a welcoming environment for individuals with autism, their families, and friends and foster a greater understanding of the condition within the broader community.

Mark Hughes, Director of Awsaj Academy, part of Qatar Foundation’s (QF) Pre-University, said:

“At this World Autism Awareness Day, we are launching World Autism Month, which is a significant opportunity to draw attention to the issues of inclusivity and diversity, and the importance of acceptance for people with autistic spectrum conditions and disorders.

“These individuals represent a very significant and important part of our community, and it is essential that people have a greater understanding of their unique perspective. They epitomize diversity, and we should recognize that they have as important a part to play in our society as anybody else."

“We have seen a greater level of understanding, interest, care, and respect for the diverse profile of people in our community. This is a positive sign, and we must continue to support people with autistic spectrum disorders.

“This event is fantastic because it brings together stakeholders from across Qatar who play an essential role in providing services and activities that enable young people with autism to participate more fully in the community. It is a great recognition of how the campaign to improve awareness and inclusivity is gathering momentum. We at Qatar Foundation are proud to be a part of this movement and demonstrate how to lead the way in supporting people with autism.”

Youssef Al-Muslimani, one of the attendees, said:

“I was amazed by the variety of activities organized by Qatar Foundation at this event. From awareness booths to fun games, it was a great opportunity for people of all ages to learn more about autism and gain a better understanding of how individuals with autism see the world. These events play a crucial role in raising awareness about the disorder and breaking down stigmas associated with it.”
