Qatar Charity (QC) with the support from the people in Qatar, has started the implementation of its Ramadan campaign “Calm Your Heart by Giving” by distributing Iftar meals to workers within Qatar, benefiting nearly 24,000 workers, including 3000 workers in quarantine, during the first two days of the blessed month of Ramadan.
The distribution of the Iftar meals took place in 20 locations across the State of Qatar, which are Al-Wakra, Al-Khor, Doha, Umm Salal Ali, Umm Salal Muhammad, Al-Ruwais, Umm Lakhba, Al-Jumayliyah, Al-Ghuwairiya, and Al-Azab (form) complex, Al-Hilal, Airport Area, Al-Gharafa, Fareej Abdul Aziz, Al-Ghanem, Ain Khalid, Al-Rayyan, Al-Salaya, and Muaither.
The Iftar meal project targeting workers within the State of Qatar amounts to QR 4,266,000, and is expected to benefit 213,300 workers.
Taking precautionary measures into consideration, due to the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, the Iftar meals are distributed by car and each worker receives a meal.
The mobile Iftar for the workers, which will be implemented during the next period, includes the distribution of 20,000 food baskets. Each basket will include basic foodstuffs sufficient for a worker for the month of Ramadan. The project is valued at QR 4,000,000.
The Iftar projects implemented within Qatar also include a mobile Iftar, which involves the distribution of 21,000 Iftar snacks in many places to drivers who are not able to reach their homes to break their fast.
The Iftar projects implemented within Qatar also include the ‘Ramadan Supply’ project, which provides essential foodstuffs for the month of Ramadan to families with limited income, the families of orphans and widows through the distribution of coupons by Qatar Charity. It targets 28,000 people with a value of QR 3,360,000.
It is worth noting that the Ramadan projects of Qatar Charity implemented in Qatar target 420,900 persons at a cost of 34,029,352 Qatari riyals. These projects include the mobile Iftar, which contains Iftar meals and food baskets for workers, in addition to Ramadan supplies for families with limited income, social assistance, and aid for those affected by the coronavirus (COVID-19).
