There are some places in Qatar where you aren't allowed to visit if you're wearing a thobe or an abaya. These rules were put in place by the QTA, as explained to ILQ, in order to preserve the image of the national dress. In some cases, people get offended thinking that the venues have a dress code which they set, however we wanted to let everyone know that venues are just following the rules.

To help everyone out and to ensure that you're all aware of places you aren't allowed to access, we put together this quick as a guide.

We’ll start with the most obvious, Qatar’s various nightclubs, if you’re wearing a thobe, no matter the nationality you wont be allowed in.

If it's a lounge (that serves alcohol), you won't be allowed access either. So make sure you're aware before going.

Finally some restaurants have a bar area. You're not allowed to sit at the bar in a thobe and some places have restrictions as to how close you can sit to the bar.

Below are a list of places considered night spots, lounges or have designated areas where you cannot wear a thobe.

1. Wahm (it's fine during Ramadan)

2. Toro Toro (second floor)

3. Nozomi (second floor)

4. Nobu (near the bar)

5. AnticaPesa (second floor)

6. The Market (near their bar area)

7. Both Lounges at Kempinski

8. The Cigar Lounge at The Ritz

9. Dunes (Grand Hyatt)

10. Crystal (W hotel)

11. Lava (Intercontinental Doha)

This list is by no means exhaustive; feel free to add some more places in the comments. We will be updating this regularly as we confirm with locations.
