Ooredoo companies across its regional footprint have launched initiatives to support humanitarian efforts in Gaza, as the crisis continues into its third week.

Dr. Nasser Marafih, Group CEO, Ooredoo, said: “Customers across our footprint have called for us to provide support for the people of Gaza, and our companies have responded, launching a series of initiatives to provide emergency relief and contact with their friends and relatives overseas.”

In Qatar and the Maldives, Ooredoo has made all mobile calls to Gaza free of charge, as people look to stay in touch with friends and family in the conflict zone.

The free call service applies to all international calls to Palestine from Qatar and the Maldives, and will run until the end of the month.

In addition to the free calls service, Ooredoo Qatar has donated QR 1,000,000 to Qatar Charity’s humanitarian efforts for Gaza.

Wataniya Palestine, which is part of Ooredoo, has launched a campaign called “We are all Gaza” in cooperation with UNRWA and PCRF to support relief efforts. The campaign enables customers to make donations by SMS from their mobile phone balance to support relief work in Gaza.

To encourage a high response rate, Wataniya Mobile is providing free call minutes for those who donate.

Ooredoo company Nawras in Oman has launched a parallel campaign to encourage employees and customers to donate to relief funds.

In Algeria, Ooredoo Algeria has made a substantial donation to the Algerian Red Crescent to enable them to purchase medication and emergency supplies for the people of Gaza.
