On August 5, 2016 about 70 Filipino expats helped preserve the gift of life by participating in the first Glenn Bern Palabrica Blood Donation Drive organized by Ilonggo Beez Qatar (IBzQ). It was led by its President Wilver Labanero and Vice-President Orville Mathew Gayatin and Glenn's brother, Gerry Palabrica at the Hamad Medical Blood Donor Center.

The event was a huge success despite the humid weather. The day began with IBzQ hosting a donor's breakfast at 8:00 am, which included soup and juice. With the higher than expected number of 72 donors, 38 were qualified.

The activity was the first ever Glenn Bern Palabrica Blood Donation Drive to be organized by the group in memory of their late President Glenn Bern Palabrica, who was their president from 2012-2014.

Glenn's family and friends can still recall the challenges they had faced in securing blood donors during his surgical operation in 2014. This inspired their group to organize the blood donation drive with determination as well as honor the memory of their former leader, adviser and friend.

IBzQ was formed in 2006 and incorporates Filipino expats from various provinces of Iloilo, Negros Occidental, Capiz, Antique, Aklan and Guimaras.

So far, the group has 600 registered members and over 1,000 followers on its official Facebook page.

Thanks to the officers, members and friends of IBzQ, who donated and helped preserve the precious gift of life in others.
