McDonald’s Qatar and Wa'hab distribute meals to labourers

To further highlight their commitment to the local community and effectively position their efforts that contribute towards overall national progress and development, McDonald’s Qatar, the country’s leading food service company in Qatar, has recently partnered with Wa’hab, an organisation engaged in programmes and project divert surplus food to help feed the less fortunate in the society, to reach out to Saheliya Labor Camp, Industrial Area.

With the help of Wa’hab volunteers, 1,400 McChicken meals prepared by the staff from Abu Hamour, Messaimeer, 01 Mall, Barwa City, Muaither and Al Jazeera branches were distributed to labour camps on Sunday.

Mithqual Abunasser, McDonald’s Qatar General Manager said: “We, at McDonald’s, make sure to continuously integrate our company’s pious objective with initiatives that help boost the well-being of the community we operate in. To that effect, we look for humanitarian ways. Through the help of Wahab organisation, and with the support of our staff, McDonald’s hopes to alleviate the plight of those who faced with various challenges. We are proud to extend support to organisations that are steadfastly working to give the less privilege a better life,”

Over the years, McDonald’s Qatar has been committed to supporting a variety of educations, social and charitable events and continuously encourage staff to actively participate in a range of activities. They have joined hands with Wahab in order to reach out to people from different walks of the community.

Wa’hab aims to reduce food wastage, by connecting those with surplus food to those who are in need of food. Their aim to partner with food outlets and charities to collect the excess food, package it and deliver them to beneficiaries. This results in optimal usage of food, thus saving the economy a loss in capital. In addition, it reduces wastage at landfills and thus creates a safer environment because of reduced carbon footprint.

Ms. Wardah Mamukoya, Founder of Wa’hab said “Giving food to people is an act that warms up hearts. The fact that people would go out of their way to deliver them meals denotes they are being acknowledged and cared for. The broad smiles on their faces say it all”

“This is our way to give back to the hard-working men in Qatar for their tireless contribution to the astonishing growth of Qatar’s infrastructure. This act is not only strengthens our teamwork and relationship with fellow McDonald’s employees, but it also enriches our personal experiences as responsible citizens,” Abunasser concluded.
