As part of their commitment to the local community and in recognition of their efforts that contribute towards overall national progress and development, McDonald’s Qatar received the ‘CSR Leadership’ Award at a ceremony to launch the “Qatar CSR Report 2015 – Leaders' Visions.”
The prestigious award applauds the efforts of public and private corporations and NGOs for their leadership and commitment to corporate social responsibility initiatives in Qatar. The ceremony was held at Qatar University on March 2th 2016, in the presence of HE Sheikh Joaan bin Hamad Al-Thani, President of the Qatar Olympic committee, who was also named the ‘CSR Person of the Year 2015’.
The annual Qatar CSR Report over the years has received the patronage of some of Qatar's most influential leaders and social influencers across various industries with participation from Qatari Ministers and dignitaries, education experts and other professionals working hard to position Qatar's pioneering efforts on the global map. The report has collaborated equally with the public and private sectors in Qatar as well as the civil society within the community to encourage social development in Qatar, in line with the 2030 National Vision.
The article in the CSR Report 2015 highlights McDonald’s contributions to the community over the past year and includes celebrations with different sectors in the community, as celebrating the traditional garangaou in all restaurants thus creating awareness on Qatari culture. At Rumailah Hospital, McDonald’s Qatar’s management and staff hosted a birthday party for young patients and their families in Qatar, were children with special needs were entertained with various fun activities.
During the Holy Month of Ramadan, McDonald’s Qatar joined hands with Rofqa’a- a Qatar Charity initiative- and launched “Donate a book” campaign , were more than 4,000 books were collected from different restaurants, and were distributed to organizations that back child development programs within Qatar.
Various social events were incorporated with other activities, where McDonald’s Qatar worked on supporting various sports activities and environment preservation initiatives in community with focused collaborations along with Hamad Medical Centre, in addition to holding recognition events for the McDonald’s employees. All these efforts contribute towards achieving Qatar’s 2030 National Vision and is designed to seek involvement from young Qatar nationals and make them a part of the organisations growing workforce.
Mr. Kamal Saleh Al Mana, Managing Director of Al Mana Restaurants & Food Co., said, “This award is a reflection of our continuous efforts that support the progress and development of our community across diverse platforms. As a national entity, our priorities are to promote international best practices in Qatar and support initiatives that strengthen the foundation of our society. It's very important for organizations to actively embrace initiatives that provide a better environment for all and offer opportunities for continued growth and development of Qatar and all those who call Qatar home, in line with our National Vision. "
This is the fourth edition of the annual CSR Report produced by the CSR Network in collaboration with its academic partner, Qatar University. The Report has become a key reference document that monitors and identifies key indicators for growth of CSR activities in Qatar
