Qatar's population went up marginally in August compared to July as more expatriates have started returning from their vacation.
According to the figures released by the Ministry of Development Planning and Statistics (MDPS), the population rose to 2,402,000 against 2,326,000 in July.
Though there was an increase of 3.2% in August compared to July, the figure fell short by nearly 185,000 compared to the all-time high of 2,587,000, recorded on May 31.
The June figure was 2,477,000.
Usually, the country's population increases between October and May (both months inclusive) but falls between June and September as a large number of people including nationals go on vacation.
The latest figures, according to MDPS, are 5% higher than the population of the corresponding period last year.
The country's population touched the 2.5mn mark for the first time in February this year, according to records released by the ministry. (Source)
