The '4th Local Dates Festival 2019' concluded yesterday at Souq Waqif after successfully receiving over 51,000 visitors and selling more than 170 tonnes of local fresh dates over 12 days.
The festival, which began on July 23, was organised by the Ministry of Municipality and Environment with the participation of 85 local farms and a number of specialized companies, including Hassad.
The Organization of the festival came in the framework of the keen attention Qatar attaches to supporting and encouraging domestic production.
A similar date festival is expected to be organized in October, as Ministry of Municipality and Environment has allocated QAR 10 million annually to purchase dates from Qatari farmers.
