Yah! It’s that time of year again! Kung Fu Panda is back. Still the same lovable panda that struggles up stairs, eats too many dumplings, is fiercely loyal, and will do anything for his trusted friends.
I had a 5 year old in tow and as we sat through the ads he leaned over and whispered “Mommy, I think Po is going to meet his daddy”. The children had long awaited the arrival of this film and fortunately they were not disappointed.
The film presents new foes, new family, and new challenges. Po does indeed welcome a strong new enemy and a long-lost father at the same time. Po, the Dragon Warrior, has to learn to teach his peers the art of kung fu and continue to learn himself, whilst at the same time deal with a new family dynamic and nemesis.
The film was funny and entertaining. The theatre was filled with children’s giggles and adults laughing… loudly. Kung Fu Panda is an all around great family film.
One of the most endearing aspects of the Kung Fu Panda series is that Po embarked on his journey in Kung Fu with little skill and minimal confidence, yet with heart and determination; Po always reached greater heights, surpassing the expectations of friends, foes, and often, himself. Indeed, the film emphasizes that which separates the ordinary from the extraordinary… is merely the relentless pursuit of one’s dreams.
You can enjoy this box office hit on March 17th in Qatar.
